"I have always loved painting even as a small child."

"My great grandmother was an artist and I would draw and paint from her scrap books that came from an old Kentucky farm. Living in Tennessee people don't particularly pick up my sense of humor and the irony that I love to use in some of work. I rather enjoy the looks of confusion at times as where I am from "girls" don't paint these things, everyone is always asking me, "why don't you paint puppies and sunsets?" It's just not my thing."

"I create because I love the challenge of being able to re-create something that is in reality tangible, out of a medium that in it's beginning state has no structure at all."

"I begin with study. Studying photos, forms, colors. I then move to the sketch which is very rough, just lines no detail (which is mostly lost as painting begins) and then move to the paint which is where all the details come out.  Sometimes I just will just start with the paint and skip the sketch, it just depends on how anxious I am to get started."
